Clara Collin grew up in Hong Kong and started working at an early age.
After a first stint at Radio Hong Kong, her natural artistic bend led her to the world of fashion, being put in charge of one of the first boutiques of Japanese fashion in Hong Kong.
She made a sentimental and cultural journey to Paris, and there she found her true love, France, where she has since made her home.
Ever attracted to the arts, she entered the Paris School of Fine Arts, Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris. She subsequently decided to become a fashion designer and had her training from the well known Ecole Superieure des Arts Appliques Duperre.
Her designer career began with Dorothee bis and Carven.
By 1994 when she met and began collaboration with Patrick Lewinger, a graduate of HEC (the leading French business school), she had created and established her own brand Clara Collins.
For Clara, fashion aims ultimately to induce a complete sense of well-being, and confidence, infusing energy and life to the beauty created. What her customers look for in her work is an unique style, a discreet and yet blossoming femininity, freedom and potential.
It is with such spirit that Clara works on each of her designs. Travels, exhibitions, films, street scenes, cafes and women are all sources from which she draws her inspiration.
She is demanding in her choice of materials. Very often, they are natural and quality material or newly innovated material that she would match with more casual and ordinary ones.
She loves to put touches of bright hues that run like musical notes on elegant colours.
Little plaisant surprises such as a hidden pocket or an innocently looking bias are Clara s signature. Very often pockets are important in Clara s design, as she believes they provide a sense of security and casualness.
As Clara likes to turn imperfect shapes to advantage, she does not tolerate anything less than absolute precision in the way a cut is made, subtly offering a comfortable wear. All the above makes a Clara Collins creation timeless, never going out of fashion but a perennial pleasure to wear.
Clara's pursuit of perfectionism and the exactness in her creation, her outlook
and thought give her style its uniqueness which is all at once spare but refined,
elegant yet poetic, comfortable and modern, winning over loyal customers with
a discerning eye and taste.
Today, Clara Collins can be found in 150 selected boutiques, in France, Italy, the UK, Japan, the USA, Russia, the Middle East...
